Traditional Idly with Sambhar.
As a start,I would like to share the receipe of a well known food Idly with sambar which most of the South Indians like the most.
Idly:
One part of Idly Rice and 1/4 part of Black or white orid dal are soaked in water separately for 4 to 5 hrs. After cleaning,both are grained separetely and missed with salt.Let it be for 7 to 8 hrs for fermentation.Now the batter is ready for making tastier Idlies. Take a ladle full of batter and pour on Idly making plate and keep inside the idli cooker. After 7 min the plate is removed and Idlies are separated from the plate and serve hot with Sambhar.
Idly sambhar:
Ingredients: Vertically chopped Onion(Small and big),Green chilly,tomato,boiled greengram dal,boiled potato,sambar powder,turmeric powder,chilly powder,salt,oil,cumin seeds,white orid dal,bengalgramdal,curry leaves and corrionder leaves.
Method:
In a pan pour little oil,add cumin seeds,WO.dal,BG dal,red chilly,and fry.After add onion,greenchilly,tomato and fry for 5 min.Add turmeric powder,chilly powder,salt and add water and let it boil for 10 min.After pour extracted tamarind and add sambar powder.keep it for 2 min.Then add boiled greengramdal and smashed potato.Keep it for 5 min.At last add finely chopped curry leaves and corrionder leaves and serve hot with Idlies.
For this recipe our product Blackgramdal is the major ingredient for making idly. Also our product Greengram dal is essential for making delicious Sambhar.
